I am not a beer connoisseur. The locally bottled lager tastes very much like Canadian lagers to me....

One full pint (16 ounces) costs 1€ at the local grocery store. American brands are bottled in southern Europe as well and are priced competitively. I do not know if the Bud in Malta tastes like a Bud bottled in America.

Moderate drinkers, please keep in mind that the default serving at some bars and restaurants is a pint.  We generally ask for a half-pint when we are having a beer with our pizza.  The half-pint bottle is the more common than the pint bottle in stores.

Beer drinking is considered acceptable behavior in a wider range of circumstances than I was used to in North America, and yet drunken and disorderly behavior is very rare. Tourists tend to account for the rare exceptions.
