Gharb

All about the peaceful village of Gharb.

Population: 900

Location: 3 km northwest of Victoria

Bus routes: 2 and 91

Gharb is a smaller village surrounded by beautiful countryside near the western tip of the island. The baroque parish church was completed early in the 18th century. Its facade has been compared to Borromini's S. Agnese in Piazza Navona, Rome. Many of Gharb's residents are retired British expatriates who live in many of the farmhouses in this village. Life is quiet in Gharb with less new development than in other parts of Gozo. Gharb is noted for the charming details on many of it's older homes, including intricately carved stone balconies.
