Population: 3458 Location: 3km east of Victoria Bus Routes: 64 and 65 Xaghra is a relatively large village situated on a high plateau with a large baroque basilica at its center. It is very residential in nature and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and old fashioned. The Ggantija Temples, the oldest manmade freestanding structure in the world, are a short walk from the village square. There is also a museum housed in the base of a very picturesque 19th century windmill. The village square has two banks, a gas station, andseveral cafes and restaurants. There are several conveniently located, well stocked grocery stores as well as local bakeries, butchers and even dessert shops. Many of Xaghra's residences have a view of the patchwork quilt of farmer's fields that is the Ramla Valley. At the bottom of the valley is Ramla Beach, a large expanse of red sand that is considered to be one of the nicest beaches on the Mediterranean.
