Taxis in Gozo are notoriously pricey. However, sometimes they are still the best option for getting around. Read on for more details. Expect to pay Lm5 for any taxi ride on the island of Gozo. Bargains can be struck, especially in the off season. The white taxis are generally sedans that are of a recent vintage. They are clean and comfortable. Expect to be solicited for rides on occasion, drivers tend to be gregarious but fairly polite. A firm but pleasant "no thank you" will usually send them on their way. An example of the hard sell is when a taxi driver attempted to dissuade us from making our first car rental arrangement at Mgarr. The flat rate for a tour of the main attractions seemed reasonable. One advantage of taxis is that they can take you from one village to another without having to return to Victoria as you would if you were using buses.
